This Privacy Policy explains how Heartbeat Midwifery, PLLC collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our website, communicate with us, or receive care from us. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our clients and prospective clients.
2. Information we collect
- Information you provide: name, contact details (including mobile phone number and email), and information you share when you inquire about or enroll in care.
- Health information: clinical and health information you provide in the course of receiving midwifery care. This information is protected health information (“PHI”) and is handled in accordance with HIPAA and our Notice of Privacy Practices.
- Information collected automatically: basic technical data (such as device and browser information) when you use our website.
3. How we use information
We use your information to provide and coordinate your care, to communicate with you about appointments and services, to respond to your inquiries, to operate and improve our practice, and to meet legal and regulatory obligations.
4. SMS / text messaging
When you provide your mobile number to us — for example, when you call or otherwise contact the practice to ask about or arrange care — you consent to receive text messages from us related to your care. These may include appointment confirmations and reminders, care coordination, and notices that results or documents are ready. The first message you receive identifies our practice, states its purpose, and includes opt-out (STOP) and help (HELP) instructions. This is a treatment-related, conversational program, not a marketing program.

- Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.

- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
We do not sell or share your mobile phone number or SMS consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile information is used only to deliver the communications described above and is shared only with service providers who help us send those messages on our behalf, under contract and only as needed to provide the service.
Separately, we will only send you marketing or promotional messages if you have given a distinct, explicit opt-in for marketing. You can withdraw that marketing consent at any time without affecting care-related communications.
5. How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. Health information is maintained in accordance with HIPAA. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information consistent with applicable law.
6. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information: with service providers who support our operations (under appropriate agreements); as required to provide or coordinate your care; and when required by law. PHI is disclosed only as permitted by HIPAA and our Notice of Privacy Practices.
7. Your choices and rights
You may request access to or correction of your information, opt out of SMS by replying STOP, and withdraw marketing consent at any time. Your rights regarding protected health information are described in our Notice of Privacy Practices.
8. Children’s privacy
Our website and services are directed to adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children except as part of providing care to a client.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date above reflects the most recent revision.
